ON Semiconductor launches RSL10 sensor development kit for power-optimized IoT applications

On February 13, 2019, ON Semiconductor (NASDAQ: ON), which promotes energy-efficient innovation, announced the launch of the RSL10 sensor development kit, which aims to provide engineering teams with a comprehensive range of cutting-edge smart sensor technology. A platform for developing Internet of Things (IoT) applications, enabled by the industry's lowest power Bluetooth low energy radio.
 
RSL10 sensor development kit combines the highly integrated RSL10 system-in-package (RSL10SIP) and a series of advanced low-power sensors from Bosch Sensortec. The development platform provides 9 degrees of freedom (DoF) detection and environmental monitoring, including ambient light, volatile organic compounds (VOC), pressure, relative humidity and temperature. It also contains 1 ultra-low noise digital microphone, 1 user-programmable RGBLED, 3 programmable button switches and 64 kbit EEPROM.
 
Dr. Peter Weigand, vice president of marketing at Bosch Sensortec, said on the launch of the RSL10 sensor development kit: We are very happy to cooperate with ON Semiconductor to develop the RSL10 sensor kit. This small form factor platform includes Bosch Sensortec's highly integrated BME680 environmental sensor to detect various gases for a wide range of air quality applications, as well as our BMM150 geomagnetic sensor and BHI160 smart sensor for high-precision motion detection. The RSL10 sensor kit combines motion and environment awareness with the Bluetooth 5 certified RSL10 ultra-low power consumption function to realize a new class of consumer and industrial IoT applications with improved sensor technology and longer battery life.
 
Developers use RSL10 to sense and control mobile applications, which can be connected to the RSL10 sensor development kit to monitor sensor and evaluation kit characteristics (optional out of the box). The application also supports a variety of commercial cloud platforms to upload sensor data.

ON Semiconductor provides the RSL10 sensor development kit and many other energy-efficient fast IoT prototype platforms, including the Bluetooth IoT development kit and the recently launched energy harvesting Bluetooth low energy switch. RSL10 adopts 5.5mm2 WLCSP, 6 mm x 6 mm QFN package and a complete system in package (SiP) with integrated antenna.
